Hi everyone, and welcome to The Sustainable Classroom Guide! I’m so excited to finally share this space with you, a place where we can all team up to inspire the next generation of environmental champions.
For the past few years, as a K-5 teacher, certified Environmental Educator, and Sustainable Energy Teacher, I’ve had the immense privilege of guiding young minds through the wonders of our planet. My classroom has always been a hub of hands-on discovery – from building mini-renewable energy models and exploring the magic of coding, to digging in our school garden and understanding where our food comes from. There’s nothing quite like seeing a child’s eyes light up when they make a real-world connection to nature.
And honestly? A lot of my inspiration comes straight from my own inner 80s child. Imagine if Bill Nye teamed up with Ms. Frizzle to tackle environmental challenges…that’s the energy I bring to teaching! I believe learning about sustainability should be exciting, messy (sometimes!), and utterly unforgettable. It’s about igniting that spark of curiosity and showing kids that understanding our Earth isn’t just important, it’s an incredible adventure.
Because at the end of the day, my vision is simple: to help every child truly connect with our world, empowering them to grow up and do great things to help our Earth thrive.
So, buckle up, curious minds! I invite you to explore The Sustainable Classroom Guide, where we’ll share practical ideas, inspiring projects, and a whole lot of fun ways to make every lesson a step towards a healthier planet.
See you on the sustainable path!
