About

Welcome To The Sustainable Classroom Guide!
My name is Elizabeth Miles and I’m the educator behind The Sustainable Classroom Guide.
As a Certified Environmental Educator and Sustainable Energy Teacher, I am deeply dedicated to empowering the next generation of environmental leaders. My work focuses on bringing STEM-based learning to life through the vital lens of sustainability
My educational philosophy is rooted in a core belief: we can’t truly expect students to help our planet if they haven’t first had the chance to genuinely connect with nature. This conviction drives my hands-on approach to teaching. I design and implement comprehensive renewable energy lessons that actively foster communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking in young minds. I also pioneer coding education for all K-5 students and build vibrant outdoor learning spaces, all committed to creating real-world connections.
My experience includes developing a school-wide Sustainable Energy Ambassador Program, forging impactful partnerships with local universities for unique K-5 field trip experiences, and establishing a pollinator garden and hydroponics lab. These initiatives all aim to prompt students to think critically about their environmental impact and empower them to use their voices for change.
Through The Sustainable Classroom Guide, I share these proven strategies and inspiring ideas, helping you cultivate a deep sense of responsibility and stewardship for our Earth in your own K-5 learners.
Let’s grow a greener future, together!
